Detailed Itinerary of 6 Days Best of Uganda Wildlife and gorilla trekking Safari

Day 1: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park

You will be picked up by your guide driver to start 6 days of Best of Uganda Wildlife and gorilla trekking Safari, from either Entebbe/ Kampala after breakfast. He will brief you about the safari and commence with a drive to the western part of the country via Masaka-Mbarara highway. you will have your first stop over at the equator in Masaka to stretch your legs and also visit the world’s centerline and carry out some experiments, take as many photos as you wish and en-route. Lunch will be served in Mbarara and after drive straight to Queen Elizabeth National Park, arriving in the evening. Upon arrival, check in at a booked lodge of your choice for dinner and overnight rest.

Day 2: Morning game drive and Evening boat cruise

On the 6 days best of Uganda Wildlife and gorilla trekking Safari, Have a very early morning breakfast and head to the park for a morning game drive. Morning game drives are the most effective way to spot the park’s wildlife because all the species are very active during this particular time, watch mammals wake up to dew-covered grass to graze and watch predators hunt or come back after an early hunting. Possible sightings include lions, elephants, buffaloes, Topi, Warthogs, Hyenas and various bird life. After retreating back to the lodge for a lunch break.

Later in the afternoon, after your lunch break, proceed to the Kazinga Channel for a boat cruise. The boat cruise is the perfect way to get a close view of the water species in the park, like crocodiles, hippos and other wild animals and bird species on the banks of the channel quenching their thirst like elephants. After two hours of cruising, return to the lodge for dinner and Overnight stay.

Day 3: Morning Game Drive and Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

Day 3 of 6 days best of Uganda Wildlife and gorilla trekking Safari, After a heavy breakfast, pack your bags and transfer to the Ishasha sector of the park where the famous tree climbing lions are found, you will spend almost four hours in search of the tree climbing lions and other wildlife species like buffaloes, elephants, Topi, Uganda Kobs etc. After an encounter with the park’s climbing lions, lunch will be served in the Ishasha sector.

After lunch, drive through the park and transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park via Ishasha sector. On arrival in the evening, check in at the prior booked accommodation for dinner and night rest.

Day 4: Mountain Gorilla Trekking

On this 6 days best of Uganda Wildlife and gorilla trekking Safari wake up earlier than usual for breakfast and after meeting with your guide driver, transfer to the park headquarters with your packed lunch, where you will be divided into groups of 8 persons briefed about the dos and don’ts while in the forest and then start the search for the endangered mountain gorillas. The search can take for 4-8 hours depending on where the gorillas hosted their previous night, their movement and, your hiking speed, you will follow the directions of the first guides who are with them. In meeting these species, no words can explain the feelings you get on encountering with them, you will be allocated an hour of spending with them in their natural environment and watch as they eat, play, breast feed, communicate and more. After gorilla trekking hike back to the park headquarters for a trekking certificate, meet with your guide driver and return back to the lodge for refreshments, dinner and night rest.

Day 5: Transfer to Lake Mburo National Park and have an evening game drive

On the second last day of the 6 days best of Uganda Wildlife and gorilla trekking Safari, wake up and have breakfast, check out of the lodge and begin your 5-6-hour drive to Lake Mburo National park. You will arrive in the afternoon perfect time for a lunch break. Up on arrival you will be welcomed by some of the park’s wildlife like zebras, check in at the lodge for lunch and relaxation. Later in the afternoon drive to the park for an evening game drive where you spot wildlife like Zebras, buffaloes, Oribi, waterbucks, reedbucks, Impalas, Common Elands, Topi and some of the bird life you will spot include Bateleur, Coqui Francolin, Grey Crowned Crane, Rufous Bellied Heron and more. After returning to the lodge for dinner and a night stay.

Lake Mburo National Park is known for being a carnivorous free park hence safe for a natural walk, on this activity you will get a close encounter with the park’s wildlife on foot. After the nature walk head back to the lodge, pack your belongings and start your journey back to Kampala. Your guide driver will either drop you off at a hotel or residence in Entebbe or Kampala or at Entebbe International Airport.
